Email marketing is when you send emails to your customers from your Shopify store directly through a third party email marketing platform such as Mailchimp, Get Response or similar company.
I have found email marketing to be super fruitful and worth the investment (usually a monthly subscription) only if your actually using it with Auto Responders, Abandoned cart and Newsletters. If you don’t need that many features and just want the abandoned cart emails then upgrade your shopify account and it will provide this feature by default.
However, if your looking for more features here are some Shopify Email Marketing Options which can take your store to the next level!
MailChimp for Shopify is a free application that connects your Shopify store to your MailChimp account. You can send 12,000 emails to 2,000 subscribers for free each month using MailChimp. Automatically add customers and their purchase data to MailChimp. Create targeted abandoned cart, email marketing, win-back, and post-purchase email campaigns based on buying behavior.
Autosync your Shopify customer data to leading mailing apps – including MailChimp, Campaign Monitor & iContact. MailSync keeps your mailing list up-to-date.
Increase your sales: +30% with Campaign Booster, 20% with Cart Recovery and Welcome emails. Grow subscribers: customizable Pop Up to collect subscribers and easy import from other pop-up apps. Save time: start with one-click install and create email campaigns up to 10x faster by adding products while browsing your store.

Our prediction engine takes all the work out of sending personalized emails to each of your customers. No wonder personalized emails receive six times higher engagement than the usual spray-and-pray approach.
OrderlyEmails helps you easily customize the emails that Shopify already sends for your store. For example, the Order confirmation email sent to a customer when they make a purchase. As an online merchant, you need your store to look its best.
In other words, the app does not send any emails itself but instead replaces/upgrades the default templates in your store with much more professional and effective designs. Your store continues to work exactly the same way as before.. no duplicate emails being sent.. and no subscription fees to pay each month.
SmartrMail lets you send personalized shopping emails, to get more sales.
We automatically pull in all of your previous customer data from your Shopify store. Then we start tracking what your current visitors are clicking on, adding to cart, and buying. Our emails use this data to make individual product recommendations for each of your customers. More relevant products means more chance they find something they want to buy.
